A spokesperson for parent company Specsavers Optical Group Ltd said Mr Kushner proved to be “a natural” to star in the new ads after his speech welcoming the Israel-Hamas ceasefire deal at a rally in Tel Aviv’s Hostage Square.
Addressing the crowd, Mr Kushner who has been in Israel as one of two personal emissaries of President Trump singled out Israel’s behaviour in Gaza over the previous two years.
“Instead of replicating the barbarism of the enemy, you chose to be exceptional. You chose to stand for the values that you stand for,” Mr Kushner said.
The Specsavers spokesperson said as soon as senior executives heard the remark they knew it and Mr Kushner were ideal to feature in one of the chain’s icon advertisements.
“We had a team of helpers that got Mr Kushner safely to his commercial shoot locations without major injury. Doorways, kerbsides and the like posed the biggest threat.”
Meanwhile President Trump’s other emissary to Israel, real estate developer Steve Witkoff, who along with the Trump family also has extensive existing business interests in the Middle East, has reaffirmed the main purpose of his trip to Israel with Mr Kushner.
Mr Witkoff was asked by reporters if he believed the ceasefire deal would lead to a Gaza peace.
“I am pleased to be here on President Trump’s behalf and I can assure you that when it comes to Gaza the President, Mr Kushner, and I are all intent on securing a piece,” Mr Witkoff said.
