The Bug has apologised for delaying today’s announcement of its Media Glass House Arselicker of the Month Award for September.
A spokesperson for The Bug said the Arselicker of the Month for September was one of News Crap Australia’s senior Righters and Liberal Party publicity officer, Peta Credlin, (main picture) who had been chosen for her column in Murdoch media turdbloids on Sunday lauding US President Donald Trump’s speech last week to the United Nations notable – like all of his utterances – for the string of blatant lies it contained. “Ms Credlin’s column talked up Mr Trump’s diatribe of lies while talking down Australia PM Anthony Albanese’s own speech at the UN,” the spokesperson said.
The citation for the September award said Ms Credlin was a “standout winner” whose column “presented a textbook example of a coit-cleansing apologia for the most underqualified, narcissistic, malignant, mendacious, corrupt, barely evolved life form ever to hold the office of President of the United States but who was helped into office and continues to be supported by the Murdoch media and its News Crap outlets both here and in the US”.
The Bug spokesperson said one judge on the award panel had delayed the choice and announcement of Ms Credlin as the September winner.
“Usually the Arselicker of the Month Award is announced pretty much on day one of a new month, because – like Peta Credlin in September – the winner is so obvious to all judges,” the spokesperson said.
“But unfortunately this month our rotating panel of judges contained a member of our Media Glass House research teams – an amateur speleologist, no less – who had just returned from long-service leave after literally living in a cave.
“That one judge initially disagreed with all other panel members who believed Ms Credlin’s column may have been written in the absence of her knowing that Mr Trump had lied in his UN speech.
“It took the best part of a day but our MGH teams quickly assembled a couple of thousand news stories from around the world predating Ms Credlin’s column and showing how badly Mr Trump had misled the UN and his global audience. (below)

“It took the rogue judge just a few minutes to sift through only a handful of such stories before falling in line with their fellow panel members and sealing Ms Credlin’s unanimous win,” the spokesperson said.
