Mike, take a Bowers!

The Bug‘s entire editorial team has just come out of a hastily convened special meeting that unanimously voted to “congratulate the ABC’s Mike Bowers for having a mind and associated thought processes very similar if not identical to all of us here today!”

They also passed a supplementary motion hoping The New Daily‘s snapper-at-large doesn’t sue over that comparison, no matter how insultingly defamatory and clearly litigious it most definitely is!

The Bug crew were called together on Monday morning after Bowers during the ABC’s Insiders Talking Pictures segment just before 10am yesterday described that selfie by Anthony Albanese with US President Donald Trump as one “which kinda looks like a Trivago ad … he’s (Trump) got a very large set of white teeth.”

Guest co-presenter Nick Bryant who hosts Aunty’s Saturday Extra suggested AI involvement seeing the image was a “slightly odd picture of Donald Trump”.

Chuffed that The Bug and Mike Bowers were clearly on the same mental wavelength over this selfie, we hope no one minds us giving a little immodest plug to our own observations back last Thursday? (link at bottom)

EDITOR’S COMMENTS: I’m just so proud of the way Australia’s best and most cutting satirists sprang into action last week when the Albanese/Trump selfie first appeared. One of our most senior humorists – the staffer who regularly monitors Nine News Queensland for bloopers and who holds the record of 28 seconds for downing a 750ml bottle of Bundaberg rum while forced to go through the pain of doing that research – made the Trivago connection immediately but before he could even shout that out, a number of his colleague had already gathered by the main drinks fridge to plot the best way of taking the piss out of both the fridge and the selfie.
