Firstly, the team at The Bug wants to thank you for your obvious deep commitment to the basic principle of freedom of speech! Scary but admirable … maybe.

We wanted to declare that from the outset after the compilers of our Media Glass House column pulled the X post (below) out of our Xcrements-of-the-Week barrel and felt it needed much wider attention – your corporation’s promotion of something Greg Sheridan had to spray on last Sunday’s Insiders.

As one of our more colourful MGH compilers put it: “You really have to admire Aunty for giving this far-right-wing cunt any platform to spread his vile and obnoxious views!”

Added another of our compliers who boasts the same number of Walkleys on their mantelpiece: “Especially since he writes putrid shit like this (below) and thinks God put Donald Trump on the planet to make America and the world great again.

But, Kim… Kimmy …. Mr Williams … honourable chairperson, sir … putting that praise about championing speech praise above aside, we’ve got a really important question to ask and some research for your people to do.

How often has the ABC over, say, the last year, used X to click bait some very personal abuse such as Sheridan’s attack on Richard Marles from some journo on the Insiders panel with a more central/leftish view of politics? Let us all see the balance we all expect, and need to see, from our national, tax-payer-funded, broadcaster.

Especially as you have made it very clear on more than one occasion that you’d gladly show ABC staff who can’t show professional balance the front door, we’re sure you’ll be keen to know the answer to our question as much as we are. Expand your search to online plugs for other ABC political programs if you so desire. You won’t be putting in the yard yards so… chop, chop!

Disabuse us of our fear that Aunty along with most of this nation’s woeful mainstream mediocre will do in this federal government term as they did in the last: feel sorry for the LNP opposition and in the interest of good government and a fair playing field, whatever the fuck that means, give them more positive coverage than they deserve.
