The clash between US President Donald Trump and an Australian Broadcasting Corporation reporter has prompted the chair of News Crap International, Lachlan Murdoch, to make an urgent visit to Washington DC to “set President Trump straight” on the standards expected of Australian media covering his administration.

A News Crap Australia spokesperson said Mr Murdoch was fortunate to have secured a brief meeting with Mr Trump at the White House before the President left for an official state visit to the United Kingdom. (main picture)

“Mr Murdoch made the flying visit to the US capital from New York as soon as he heard the live coverage of President Trump’s criticism of the ABC’s Americas editor, John Lyons, who was questioning the President on the propriety of transacting lucrative private business deals while in office,” the spokesperson said.

“Mr Murdoch went straight to the White House because he wanted to make sure that President Trump knows the facts about the coverage of him and his administration by Australian news outlets …., I mean Australian News outlets.”

In his exchange with John Lyons Mr Trump asked the ABC reporter to identify himself and after Mr Lyons said he was from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Mr Trump replied: “Oh, the Australian — you’re hurting Australia.”

The News Crap Australia spokesperson said the President’s reply “set off alarm bells” for Lachlan Murdoch.

“When Mr Trump said ‘the Australian’, Mr Murdoch was quite rightly…, I mean quite Rightly worried that the President might be under the misunderstanding that Lyons was from News Crap’s national broadshit The Australian which, as everyone knows, is far from critical of the President,” the spokesperson said.

“That’s why Mr Murdoch went straight to the White House and set the President straight by telling him Mr Lyons was not from The Australian and that both News Crap International and News Crap Australia were still on his side and would continue to help him Make America and Australia Great Again no matter how far to the right he went, no matter how corrupt he was, how much he eroded democracy, and no matter how many of his blatant lies News outlets including the US Fox Network and Sky News Australia need to unquestioningly support.”

The News Crap Australia spokesperson was quizzed on why The Australian’s website had omitted Mr Trump’s words “the Australian” from the transcript of the President comments to Mr Lyons. (below)

“I’ll look into that and not get back to you,” the spokesperson said.
