Columnist charged over ‘toys’

BRISBANE: The Bug’s finance and investment advice columnist Morrie Bezzle appeared in court in Brisbane today on a range of charges under consumer and public health laws.

A Queensland Police spokesperson said officers had last night accompanied Queensland Health biohazard response teams and Office of Fair Trading staff to an inner-northside warehouse where they had arrested Mr Bezzle and seized a quantity of what was described as “organic matter”.

“Police went to the warehouse after receiving dozens of complaints from people who had made online purchases of what they were led to believe were a new toys linked to the wildly popular Labubu stuffed animal range of collectible dolls,” the spokesperson said.

“But what they received in the mail after paying several hundred dollars apiece was what we can best describe as a box of human waste. (main picture)

“As a result of the raids today Mr Bezzle will face a number of charges under the Fair Trading Act as well as under the Health Act,” the spokesperson said.

Speaking outside the Brisbane Magistrates Court, Mr Bezzle (below) said he would defend the charges vigorously.

“I haven’t misled anybody,” he said. “I very clearly marketed and sold these toys as Lapoopoos and never once claimed they were the original version.

“I look forward to having my day in court because as far as my defence is concerned it’s an open and shit case.. I mean shut,” Mr Bezzle said.

He said he expected it to be a best seller and worthy of the Nobel Prize for Literature.

“If it doesn’t win, then the Nobel Prize system is rigged,” Eric Trump (below) said.

When asked at an Oval Office news conference if he would be helping to promote the book by Eric Trump, President Donald Trump replied: “Who?”
