THE FOURTH ESTATE:

SYDNEY: Federal police have swooped on The Sydney Morning Herald building here overnight and arrested and charged the paper’s editor, night editor and the sub-editor on duty with two offences.

All three have been charged with the wilful impersonation of a rival company’s image and modus operandi with intent to profit from such deception, and breaching that company’s copyright entitlements, namely the exclusive right Australia-wide to use the words Dan and Dictator together.

The Bug‘s legal counsel believes the charges arise from the splash in today’s SMH edition (below) and that the AFP had been left with no option other than to act after a furious managerial board at The Herald Sun in Melbourne had lodged a number of obscenity-laden complaints.

One of those board members could still hardly control his rage when he spoke to The Bug this morning: “How dare they try to out-Newscorp Newscorp!”

“Dan’s a Victorian, he’s our dictator and we’ve been into him for yonks. His landslide state-election wins over time would have been even greater if we hadn’t been around as a sort of unofficial Opposition to bring him down a peg or two over inhuman COVID lockdowns that trampled on people’s basic rights, family car accidents, alleged falls on seaside holiday accommodation stairs and the fact, obviously, that he was a commie Labor socialist.

“So, SMH, fuck right off and stay on your fucking side of the border!”
