Netanyahu steps up criticism

NATIONAL SECURITY:

TEL AVIV: Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has stepped up his criticism of the Albanese Government in the wake of its expulsion of Iran’s ambassador and its decision to list the nation’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organisation.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said yesterday that both actions had been taken as a result of investigations showing Iran was behind antisemitic attacks on Jewish properties in Melbourne and Sydney.

But Mr Netanyahu said the response did not go far enough, telling a news conference that Australia should have bombed the Iranian Embassy in Canberra.

“Prime Minister Anthony Antisemitism has yet again shown the world how weak he is by not going further than mere bans and a diplomatic expulsion,” Mr Netanyahu said.

“The Iranian Embassy sits in the middle of Canberra suburbia (main picture) so it would be easy to launch a missile strike that admittedly might also take out nearby embassies, family homes, and perhaps a couple of schools, and kindergartens and perhaps a hospital if we’re lucky.

“But, no, Prime Minister Antisemitism fails to go that extra yard as we do here every single day.

“I understand that the Prime Minister also had at least a dozen journalists and camera operators corralled in a confined space yesterday to make his announcement, yet didn’t take the opportunity to call in a missile strike on them, and then another soon after once help arrived.

“That just shows how weak and antisemitic he and his government really are,” Mr Netanyahu said.

CANBERRA: It remains unclear whether the Albanese Government will ban, expel, or impose sanctions on other organisations that meet the criteria outlined on Tuesday to justify listing Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist group.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the listing followed an assessment that the Iranian organisation had been attempting to “undermine social cohesion” and to “sow hatred and division” in the Australian community.

Mr Albanese admitted that Sky News Australia and News Crap Australia met the criteria but he was yet to decide if they too would be banned or listed as terrorist groups.

CANBERRA: Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister, Senator Michaelia Cash, has delivered the coalition’s official response to yesterday’s decisions by the Albanese Government affecting Iran’s diplomatic presence in Australia. (below)

But a spokesperson for the federal opposition said it was not possible at this stage to detail Senator Cash’s remarks. (below)

“As usual we’re having a lot of trouble trying to type up a transcript of the Senator’s remarks – if you could call them that – since her screaming and screeching has once again busted the microphone on our recorder,” the spokesperson said.
