WORLD NEWS:
CANBERRA: The war of words between Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is escalating rapidly with Israel seeming to threaten military action in response to Mr Albanese’s latest remarks on the situation in Gaza.
Mr Netanyahu has attacked the Albanese Government in the wake of its decision to recognise a Palestinian state and the refusal to issue a travel visa to allow a far-right Israeli MP to visit Australia, saying: “History will remember Albanese for what he is: A weak politician who betrayed Israel and abandoned Australia’s Jews.”
In addition, the Sydney branch of the Israeli Government Press Office, trading as Sky News Australia, released a “confidential” letter sent to Mr Albanese by Mr Netanyahu in which he claimed Australia’s actions were rewarding the terrorist group Hamas, (below)

“It is not diplomacy, it is appeasement,” the letter said before also claiming that the Albanese Government was supporting “those who menace Australian Jews” and encouraging “the Jew-hatred now stalking your streets”.
In his latest response after the letter’s release Mr Albanese said of Mr Netanyahu: “He’s delulu with no two-state solulu.”
The remark prompted Mr Netanyahu to delay a news conference in Tel Aviv called to outline his controversial plans to have the Israeli Defence Force take over Gaza City.
When the media briefing did start, reporters noticed the map detailing the area of Gaza to be subject to the IDF incursion had been slightly modified. (main picture)
The deteriorating relationship between the two leaders has prompted an offer by US President Donald Trump to broker a peace deal. (below)

“I can have this war of words settled on day one,” Mr Trump said without specifying day one of what.
“It’s important that we have peace between these two very important nations, especially because of the role Austria has to play in Europe.
“Nobody wants to see a real fresh war break out, especially not when my Nobel Peace Prize is at stake.
“A war would also do too much damage as we’ve seen in Ukraine, but thankfully not so far in the new Riviera where Bibi has been doing just a bit of minor land clearing for future seafront development and some golf courses.
“Anyway, I’d really hate to see Albo bombed. It’s such a lovely city,” Mr Trump said.
