TEL AVIV: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has used a fresh media call here to once again blast Australia’s decision to recognise a Palestinian state and spell out in simple and plain terms the “one great and significant difference between us and Hamas that a hoodwinked world needs to understand”.
“Hamas is totally opposed to a two-state solution and has repeatedly vowed to see the complete annihilation of Israel and the Jewish people,” Netanyahu (file photo, above) thundered.
“Israel is totally opposed to a two-state solution and my ministers and I have repeatedly vowed to see the complete annihilation of Gaza and the West Bank and the Palestinian people.
“And the world needs to understand that Hamas is a prescribed terrorist organisation as determined by Australia and a few other nations. And we have never been so prescribed!
“Oy vey, how many tens of thousands more innocent civilians – mainly women and children – do we have to kill before people accept we are nothing like Hamas?”

TEL AVIV: Hopes that Israel might rethink its plans to attack Gaza City before, during or after forcing yet another displacement of up to a million citizens sheltering in squalor there and with nowhere else to go have been boosted by an unconditional offer by Hamas to release all 72 remaining hostages held in the Palestinian enclave.
Israel has long argued its deadly attacks on Gaza these past 22 months have centred around Hamas’s refusal to release hostages taken back on October 7, 2023, but the Jewish state may come under even more international pressure now that Hamas has suggested a staggered partial release of the remaining hostages with the initial handover later today of all 72 heads.

WASHINGON, DC: A lividly orange President Donald Trump has sacked several key administration figures who erred in arranging his flight to hold crucial talks with Vladimir Putin a good 36 hours prematurely.
The Bug reported exclusively yesterday that Air Force One had twice touched down in Moscow for Trump/Putin talks in Alaska, leaving the US president orange-faced on an empty tarmac. The flight to Moscow has been rescheduled and will take place at the right time tonight, Australian time.
