Is the fight against antisemitism a lost cause?

SOCIAL COHESION:

The evil scourge of antisemitism is rampant and governments and agencies at all levels need to step up to eradicate “this unspeakably evil practice before it destroys the very fabric of a tolerant and multicultural Australia”.

This grim warning has been issued in a statement overnight by Australia’s Special Envoy to Combat Anti-Semitism, Jillian Segal (pictured at top).

“Recent incidents have both shocked and dismayed me,” her statement read. “I now seriously doubt we’ll ever complete the task assigned not just to me and my staff but all decent Australians.

“I refer firstly to the Newcastle high school student who has just been suspended for deliberately misspelling the Israeli prime minister’s surname as Netanyahoo in an assignment. Luckily, a patriotic teacher spotted the deliberate attempt to smear one of the world’s great world leaders and commander of the finest, most ethical defence force ever assembled and called the police. He’ll probably just cop a children’s court fine but expulsion from school would have been totally warranted as well over such a disgusting example of antisemitism.

“And what about the Melbourne Markets fishmonger who has just been fined $750 in the local magistrates court after a police raid revealed that his massive displays of fresh local and imported fish – that he touted to be the best and most comprehensive in the nation – did not include a single jewfish!”
