GENOCIDE IN GAZA:
TEL AVIV: Moves by more nations to recognise a Palestinian state have prompted urgent action by the Israeli Government on the orders of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Mr Netanyahu has directed that all Israeli embassies and consular offices receive specially adapted novelty desk buttons to help spread the key messages of his government. (main picture)
Official spokesperson for the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, Jen Oside, said the action was in response to decisions by the UK earlier this week and now Canada to declare their conditional intention to join France in recognising a Palestinian state at a September meeting of the United Nations.
“The Prime Minister is very concerned that his government maintains a consistent message about the situation in Gaza and the West Bank,” Ms Oside said.
“He fears that Israel’s messaging may be at risk of being overwhelmed by the facts.
“He is also very well aware of the physical toll taken on Israeli ambassadors, consul-generals, and other representatives around the world by having to constantly repeat the same key messages over and over again when asked by reporters or representatives of other governments.
“So he asked our intelligence agency Mossad to come up with a solution and they have once again delivered.
“Their idea of adapting those little plastic desk toys that normally deliver a funny message when their button is pressed is just the thing we need.
“We’ve inserted new messages and will now be distributing the buttons to all of our diplomatic posts around the world so we can keep up the barrage of key messages we have been using.
“We’ll also be sending boxes of the buttons to others around the world who are not members of Israel’s diplomatic staff but who nevertheless are keen to keep repeating our messages without question.
“For example, we’ve already packed up several crates of the buttons and are right now air freighting them to The Australian’s newsroom and the Sky News Australia studios in Sydney,” Ms Oside said.
