CANBERRA: Opposition Leader Ssussan Ley is expected to sack two prominent frontbenchers today just weeks after their appointments to the federal shadow ministry following the May election.
A senior Liberal Party source who did not wish to be named said the frontbenchers facing the axe were shadow defence minister Angus Taylor (main picture) and shadow finance minister Senator James Paterson. (below)

“Angus is going because he stupidly did the Trump administration’s bidding and demanded that Prime Minister Albanese give a commitment while visiting China to have Australia join in any military action to defend Taiwan in the event of a Chinese invasion,” the source said.
“Susan… sorry, I mean Ssussan nearly shat herself when she heard of that. Fucking hell. Imagine asking Albo to give that commitment.
“Angus couldn’t even understand how he’d put his foot in it. Nothing new there.
“He couldn’t see that if he wants Albo to give that commitment, then Susan.. err, Ssussan must do the same.
“That’s the last fucking thing she wants – to essentially declare war on China in advance – so Angus has to get the chop.
“The same goes for James Paterson after he also put his foot in it while Albo was still on his visit to China.
“For some reason James, who’s shadow finance minister, appeared on the Liberal Party’s streaming service – that’s Sky News – to comment on the PM’s trip . (below)

“He ran all the usual lines about Labor and Albo being weak on defence, weak on national security, unable to get deals done with China, blah, blah, blah – all the usual stuff that worked so very well for Peter Dutton at the election.
“But then James went on to suggest that the PM’s six-day visit was a bit ‘indulgent’ because he walked a short stretch of the Great Wall, saw some pandas, and played tennis.
“Well Ssussan was livid at him too. She has every right to be because James managed to skewer any overseas trip Ssussan now takes anywhere in the world.
“If she heads OS it can’t be for anywhere near six days. If she goes to China she’ll have to get off the plane, go to a few meetings, and fly straight back home – no Great Wall visit, no pandas, and no tennis.
“If you thought she was livid at Angus, you should have heard her when she was told what James had said.
“If I were either of them I’d accept my sacking gracefully and not even try to argue with her otherwise their hold on their own seats may well be at risk come 2028.
“Ssussan’s just waiting for an excuse to mandate quotas in Liberal preselections – that’s quotas to weed out fuckwit candidates,” the source said.
