…. or simply can’t be bothered?

Gerry Harvey may not have many, if any, redeeming features but here’s one you BUGgers may not be aware of.
Through his Harvey-Norman print media advertising spend, humanitarian and worker-friendly all-round good guy Gerry “I wouldn’t even let them eat cake!” Harvey has single-handedly changed the way newspapers are folioed/numbered. Well, the Herald mastheads in Sydney at any rate.
And today’s SMH is a classic example. As is often the case with each Thursday’s edition, it has a four-page Harvey Norman wraparound. The production powers-that-be yesterday decided to call the page you see to the left above page one! That’s right. Like newspapers since the press was invented, calling page 1 page 1 makes absolute sense. We could also call it the front page or the cover page and who would quibble with that!
But here’s where the problems start for Herald subs who have shown themselves over recent years to be not very bright.
Giving your obvious front or cover page the title of page one means the pretend cover page, shown at right above becomes page 3. It’s not rocket surgery, is it?
And, sadly, that’s something the useless fucking subs don’t check when they plop their lazy, unprofessional arses down for a Wednesday night shift.
Sadly we can’t give a complete roasting to Wednesday night’s SMH subbing roster of has-beans because only one story spilled over from page three.
Ready for it? We think you’ll know what’s coming!

That’s right. Some sub (the only sub?) at the daily Herald thinks an edition’s page 3 is page one!
Never was. Never will be.
And the record for subs fucking up spills from page 3. Appropriately enough… THREE.
A little while ago, three yarns were spilled from Page 3. One, two or maybe even three subs declared that the source of those yarns was the Front Page (twice) and Cover Page once.
Page 3 of any newspaper for some centuries was never the front page or the cover page. Or fucking page one for that matter.
Who would have thought that little old humanitarian and worker-friendly all-round good guy Gerry “I wouldn’t even let them eat cake!” Harvey would change that forever!
