Boxers’ names didn’t ring a bell

The column that has fun with the smaller mistakes and missteps of Australia’s mainstream mediocre; that pays homage to those sweet little fishes that individually don’t amount to a full meal but collectively can cause a tummy upset over the overall state of the once great and noble craft of journalism in this country.

Can the bitter, washed-up, old hacks who compile this column be perfectly honest with you?

There’s apparently a grudge boxing match coming up between thugby legends Paul Gallen and Sonny Bill Williams and we’ll be delighted if they not only bash each other senseless but are also completely unrecognisable by bout’s end.

Someone who already can’t recognise Gallen and Williams is the graphics artist up at Nine News Queensland, who put the wrong names to the wrong faces (at top) in Monday night’s shameless fight promotion by sports reporter Jonathan Uptin.

“Apologies for those wrong names on screen,” Uptin said immediately after the bloopers aired.

To be fair, last night’s (Tuesday’s) shameless fight promotion by Uptin got the names right as the two overpaid pugilists repeated their scripted line about how much they dislike each other.

But even that caught our bitter, washed-up, old hack column compilers by surprise; they didn’t know Gallen and Williams could read.

Wasn’t it bad enough that Erin Patterson is now a convicted triple murderer? A plug on X for The Advertiser suggested she was also a dreadful cook.

Maybe claims that our national broadcaster is just as cowered by the powerful Zionist lobby as other mainstream media outlets aren’t far off the mark?

This recent poorly worded online ABC promo suggests the IDF was only responsible for some of the deaths of dozens of Gazans foolishly seeking aid.
