NOBEL PEACE PRIZE:

OSLO, NORWAY: Plans by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to nominate US President Donald Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize have struck an administrative obstacle.
A spokesperson for the Oslo-based Nobel Foundation said the judging panel for its peace prize had been unable to decipher most of Mr Netanyahu’s letter recommending Mr Trump for one of the coveted awards.
“Unfortunately the nominating letter that the Israeli Prime Minister gave to Mr Trump when in Washington this week and which was sent to us is largely unreadable,” the spokesperson said.
“Our judges have been unable to make out much of the text because Mr Netanyahu and Mr Trump have both handled it extensively and have left it indelibly stained. (main picture)
“Our own research staff believe that at least part of the letter declares that Mr Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for not blocking the endless supply of US arms and funds that enables Mr Netanyahu to bomb Iran and Lebanon, as well as ethnically cleanse Gaza, the West Bank, and other territories Israel wants to clear of Palestinians and take over and settle with its own citizens.
“From the small amount of the text that is readable it appears that in his letter Mr Netanyahu also suggests that any denial of a Nobel Peace Prize to Mr Trump would be a classic case of antisemitism.”
The spokesperson said the Nobel Foundation would ask Mr Netanyahu to re-send his nomination of Mr Trump to allow judges to make a better assessment.
“If he wants to send a replacement hard-copy letter we’ll also be asking him to use a different type of paper to print it,” the spokesperson said.
“The one we’ve got needed to undergo specialised safety testing before we even tried to read it because of the distinct and overpowering odour it gave off when we opened its envelope.
“That testing isolated the aroma which turned out to be the strong stench of genocide. So we’re asking the Israeli PM’s office to perhaps just email us the text,” the spokesperson said.
