WASHINGTON DC: As the Make American Great Again movement fractures over US President Donald Trump’s attack on Iran and the possibility of involving America in another Middle East war, one of his previously hard-line supporters is citing Australia’s most beloved aristocrat, Lord Downer of Adelaide Hills, as justification for breaking ranks.

Far-right Republican Party representative from Georgia, Marjorie Taylor Greene, said there was now no doubt that American ground troops would soon be committed to a war with Iran, despite claims to the contrary by the President.

Addressing the US House of Representatives (main picture) Ms Greene cited a recent interview granted by Lord Downer to Murdoch media Righter and Sky News Australia “after dark’ host, Chris Kenny, to justify her claim. (below)

“Lord Downer was Austria’s [sic] longest-serving foreign minister,” Ms Greene said. “He was the guy who said quite clearly in early 2022 that Vladimir Putin would never invade Ukraine.

“Since then the foreign relations and diplomatic community around the world has used him as a valuable benchmark.

“Whatever Lord Downer says will happen won’t happen – in fact, the exact opposite will happen.

 “When His Lardship [sic, possibly her Georgian accent*] told Skyfox News [sic] it was unlikely that any US attack on Iran would be followed by having troops on the ground, you can take that as troops will be on the ground,” Ms Greene said.

Lord Downer was unavailable for comment, with an under-butler at his family seat Pout House saying His Lordship was out of contact in his sedan chair heading to his favoured Adelaide apothecary to purchase a new range of rouge, face chalk, and wig powders.
