Our Media Glass House researchers know well that at least once a week if not more, Chris Mitchell, (main picture) the former editor-in-chief of News Crap Australia’s national broadshit The Australian, holds forth at length and some volume about how bad the journalistic standards are at all other media outlets in the nation – bar any other of Rupert Murdoch’s shrinking and now proven politically impotent organs.

Our MGH teams are accustomed to Mitchell banging on and endlessly repeating the same complaints about the supposed radical left-wing bias and allegedly low journalistic values in other non-Murdoch media outlets.

“Evidence” that others are not meeting the standards presumably delivered by The Australian and no doubt Mitchell himself are apparently thick across the non-Murdoch media landscape.

Other journalists and their employing outlets are, among other things, tools of or propagandists for the Labor Party or, worse still, the “teal” independents who dare to be elected then re-elected in former Liberal Party seats……

…or they are too anti-Donald Trump, apparently most recently committing the offence of not asking enough questions about who was behind the riots in Los Angeles that the US President used to muscle up to the California Governor and manipulate National Guard and US Army officers as party political pawns.

 Our MGH teams still wonder why the Murdoch media was not asking the same question before, during, and after 6 January 2021 attempted insurrection at the US Capitol.

They reckon Mitchell and others at The Oz would have easily uncovered that Trump himself was behind that anti-democratic and anti-Democratic riot – something other media outlets reported while the Murdoch organisation was busy protecting its financial interests by knowingly and willingly spruiking the lies peddled by Trump about having the 2020 election stolen off him.

Our MGH researchers are equally accustomed to Mitchell and many other of his fellow Righters at The Oz labelling and pillorying as antisemitic any journalists or media outlets that, unlike them, don’t reprint almost verbatim and loudly cheer Benjamin Netanyahu’s talking points on Israel’s genocidal activities in Gaza. And, of course, according to them any outlet not totally echoing Butcher Bibi is a mouthpiece of Hamas terrorists.….

But this week, say our MGH researchers, we’ve all been given a prime example of the journalistic standards Mitchell asks others to mimic.

It was the front page lead in Monday’s edition of The Australian detailing deaths of Israeli civilians hit by missiles launched by Netanyahu’s enemy du jour, Iran….

Of course such deaths are regrettable. Civilians should never be the targets of deliberate bombardments. Such targeting is a war crime.

Our MGH teams reasoned that if Mitchell is correct in his view that The Oz sets the standard for other media outlets to follow, the national broadshit must have published a similar front page lambasting Israel for targeting Palestinian civilians in its ongoing genocidal campaign in Gaza.

As Mitchell himself often says, such balance is “Journalism 101”.

So our MGH teams searched for such a front page story decrying targeting of Gaza civilians.

They searched, and searched, and searched some more. Here is what they found…..
