Sleepy Sarah narrowly avoids Aunty’s axe!

I can report exclusively this morning to my reader that 7.30 host Sarah Ferguson has been issued a final warning by ABC management after falling asleep several times during her interview last night with Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Richard Marles.

My spies at Aunty’s Ultimo, Sydney, studios where the segment was taped say that Ferguson was given a mighty dressing down by station executives who woke her at the end of the show.

But some of her colleagues sprang to her defence with one saying: “I’d defy anyone to stay awake while that useless prick blundered on and on wihout given simple and direct answers such as when Sarah repeatedly asked what was Australia’s Plan B if the US sank the AUKUS nuclear subs deal!”

Added another: “I don’t blame Sarah at all. I suffer dreadfully from insomnia and each night I listen to tapes of Marles media conferences to help me get some decent shut-eye.”

But another colleague was not so sure if Ferguson deserved to get away with what happened.

“If she had fallen asleep while interviewing the shadow defence minister, my best guess is that she would have been quickly shown the door.

“ABC management is acutely aware of the parlous state of the LNP from the election and in the interests of an even playing field and the future of Australian democracy over the next three years, they’ve made it clear Opposition views on any issue whatsoever must be given more than their fair share of coverage and they must be treated with the utmost respected by our journalists at all times.

“Ferguson would be looking for a new gig right now if she had dozed off while interviewing Angus Taylor.”
