Musk seals robot deal on exit

WASHINGTON DC: The continuing use by the Trump White House of cutting-edge robotic technology developed by Elon Musk’s diversified global technology firm Tesla is central to the agreement that has seen the world’s richest man extract himself from active daily involvement in US politics.

While Musk was today officially farewelled from his role heading the Department of Government efficiency (DOGE) by President Donald Trump, negotiations behind the scenes prior to the announcement centred on the licensing of Tesla’s robotic technology.

In 2021 Tesla announced it had been developing its Optimus robot technology which is now in its second generation. (main picture)

“The Optimus robots do and say whatever their owners program them to do,” a Tesla spokesperson said.

“So far the Trump White House has found the Optimus to be very handy in undertaking roles that humans might baulk at because of the workload involved or the moral or ethical questions that may arise but which robots can simply ignore.

“A prime example has been the Optimus Mark 2 that’s been dubbed ‘Karoline Leavitt’ which performs media briefings in front of the White House press pool. (below)

“The Optimus KL, as we call it, has generated considerable interest from other world leaders and Tesla is currently negotiating orders for versions of the robot for Benjamin Netanyahu, Vladimir Putin, and even Xi Jinping, although they are all resisting signing final purchase contracts because the price keeps rising thanks to changing tariffs on the components we need to import from China.”

The Tesla spokesperson said there was a “silver lining” for Tesla in its CEO Musk’s departure from his DOGE job at the White House and the new deal on robotic technology.

“Elon’s exit means nobody can point a finger once the White House starts the rollout of Optimus robots in other roles, such as appointing them as cabinet secretaries, federal court judges, and even to the Supreme Court when the next vacancy occurs,” the spokesperson said.
