Trump embraces TACO jibe

WASHINGTON DC: US President Donald Trump has suddenly embraced the acronym TACO originally applied to him as a criticism of his wavering approach to the imposition of trade tariffs.

In an exchange in the Oval Office this week, Trump angrily castigated a reporter for raising the use by Wall Street traders of TACO – meaning “Trump always chickens out” – to describe his on-again, off-again tariffs on foreign-made goods and services.

“Don’t ever say what you said. That’s a nasty question,” he snapped at the reporter.

But today in another Oval Office photo opportunity (main picture) the President reversed his stand and totally embraced the TACO label.

“I’ve had a rethink,” he explained. “My staff told me that TACO can also stand for ‘Trump’s a corrupt oligarch’.

“I’m very happy with that. So everyone can use TACO to describe me as much as they like. Go for it!

“Yep, I’m totally corrupt. I’m running down the economy just so I can line my own pockets with bribe after bribe and insider trading. But who’s stopping me?

“So yeah, TACO is now my favourite word – a close second to ‘tariff’,” he said.

CANBERRA: The federal Labor Party has admitted it is paying the salary of prominent News Crap Australia columnist and Sky TV host, Peta Credlin.

ALP national secretary and 2025 federal election campaign director, Saint Paul Erikson, (below) admitted to the payments while defending their legitimacy.

“We got a whiff of a rumour that Peta was for the high jump at News Crap following the dismal performance of one of the company’s major subsidiaries, the Liberal Party, at the election earlier this month,” Saint Paul said.

“I immediately instructed the Labor Party’s accountants to offer to pay for Peta to stay on the payroll at News Crap and Sky News to keep pumping out the sort of commentary she’s been producing since the election. (below)

“It’s a legitimate business expense for us and is certainly in our interests to keep Peta writing, … I mean Righting what she’s been Righting now for some time,” he said.

LONDON: Former UK prime minister Boris Johnson says he and his third wife Carrie have not yet settled on a name for their fourth child born this week.

The Johnsons showed off their new baby girl for the cameras (below) while musing on possible names.

“Yah, yah. I say, we haven’t picked a name yet chaps, and chapettes,” Mr Johnson told reporters.

“My current wife … errr, whatshername, favours something traditional while I’m leaning towards a name that evokes some of my greatest achievements while leading the nation.

“I’d also like her name to echo my own which in full is Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson.

“So I think Brexit Covid de Bacle Johnson might just win out,” he said.
