Today I can report exclusively for The Bug reader that former opposition leader Peter Dutton has inked a deal to host a new nightly chat show as part of SkyLNP News Australia’s “after dark” line-up. (main picture)
The new Peter Dutton Tooright Show will premiere soon following a decision by Sky’s parent company News Crap Australia to greenlight the project.
I have viewed a tape of the pilot episode and can safely say it’s everything I expected it to be.
“We brought Peter in last week to tape a pilot episode, pairing him with Peta Credlin who fills the traditional tonight show role as his sidekick and announcer,” a Sky News insider told me. (below)

“They really hit it off, and their on-screen chemistry will, I’m certain, draw in viewers.
“Given their shared backgrounds it’s inevitable that the new show will have a distinctly political flavour.
“Peter set the tone with his opening monologue which contained a few zingers about the recent election and a few more serious remarks and good natured digs at voters for getting it so very wrong.
“But we did go all out to make sure the pilot episode was as entertaining as possible by recruiting special guests to sit on the couch and chat with Peter and Peta.
“We were looking for a line-up of guests who could contribute a variety of political views and settled on Gina Rinehart, Andrew Bolt, Paul Murray, and Senator Jacinta (unintelligible) Price.
“We even teed up interviews via satellite with Tucker Carlson in the USA and Nigel Farage live from the UK.
“It’s the sort of guest list we’ll replicate in actual episodes of the show once it goes to air.
“By that I mean we will be repeating the exact same guests every night who’ll all chat about the same topics – gender politics, attacking woke, the need for nuclear power, the need to bring back national service, re-litigating the Voice referendum arguments, and so forth.
“This ensures that we can meet the demands laid down by both Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch who have insisted that the new show presents a range of views.
“They want to make sure it delivers right-wing views not just far-right ones,” my source told me.
