A ham-fisted approach to trade?

The column that has fun with the smaller mistakes and missteps of Australia’s mainstream mediocre; that pays homage to those sweet little fishes that individually don’t amount to a full meal but collectively can cause a tummy upset over the overall state of the once great and noble craft of journalism in this country.

We might have mentioned before that we put this column on the backburner as we concentrated on our award-winning federal election coverage.

Yesterday, we resumed our digs at the silly little mistakes that our woeful mainstream media makes far too often (link at bottom) but would you BUGgers out there mind if we burnt off some others we collected over recent times when we had the chance? No? Thanks.

Let’s kick off with this effort from some mob called Dagens.com. We’re pretty sure the heading should have been China Pulls Plug on Massive Pork Shipment from U.S.

For the next two, we are indebted to doyens of Australian journalism. First one is from retired rugby league writer extraordinaire and Lang Park media hall of famer Barry Dick, who informed us on May 9 that it was “interesting to see on front page of this morning’s CM that Jacinta Whateverhernameis had “deflected” from the Nats to the Libs”. Oh, dear!

The second is from another dear but equally not so old friend down Melbourne way, the legendary electronic-media news hound Dean Felton, who spotted this one. Dean seems to like picking up such bloopers as much as we do.

One of our column compilers almost cracked an erecton on seeing that one from Dean.

Finally, this isn’t really a mistake at all but one that tickled our fannies at The Bug.

Who knew Albanese was so linguistic? You silver-tongued devil, you!
