Are we getting our two Bobs’ worth?

Ever wondered why our new Pope Leo and legendary British comedian Bob Mortimer have never been seen in the same room?

Well, we at The Bug did, and our research clearly explains why they haven’t. And don’t let the spooky physical similarities as shown below have you thinking that’s all we’ve got to prove these two individuals are the one and the same!

They are both called Bob so clearly that’s a fairly sneaky nod to the possibility that they at the very least related. To offer up such a clue shows they were clearly confident of not being caught out.

Mortimer was born in 1959; Pope Leo allegedly in 1955. Close enough to look about the same age, and they wouldn’t make it exactly the same anyway! Even so, we all know how easy it is for the rich and famous to tweak such figures to fool us, right?

Take their surnames. Leo’s is Prevost, so they have almost the same number of letters, including four in common! What’s the odds against that?

Now for the clinches.

Both are married to mythical creatures; Mortimer to an apparent goddess, Pope Leo to an invisible God! The clues keep coming.

Need more? Both are devoted users of the social media platform X but get this: Mortimer has used his to mock Christianity and is there a more cunning way to put us off the scent as to the role he’s now playing as God’s chosen one on Earth?

Trust us. There’s just the one logical explanation why these two men have never been in the same room. And we suspect you’ll now agree!

Put glasses and a skull cap on Mortimer and get him to flounce around in ridiculously overblown girlie clothes waving gaudy props and who do you have? Pope Leo the Whateverith!

Okay, enough from you BUGgers out there. We can hear you shaking your sceptical heads. We’re not fools and we accept that this Bob Prevost might be a separate individual but before he became infallible the other say, he seems to have lived a life that far too kind, far too decent, and far too devoted to caring for others to be a normal human being.

But if that’s the case, the question must be asked by the logical and professional investigators here at The Bug: why has Bob Mortimer taken the Pope’s role in Rome?

Security reasons perhaps? Or did Mortimer need a good paying gig seeing his time telling funny but now exhausted made-up stories, including the claim that he did his own dental work, on Would I Lie To You? has long ended?
