Greg Sheridan faces lawsuit

One of News Crap Australia’s prominent Righters is defying legal threats and will continue to perform his new comedy routine examining the outcome of the 2025 federal election.

Greg Sheridan, foreign editor of the Murdoch media’s national broadshit The Australian, (far right and in middle in main image) premiered his new routine at the Holt Street Bunker comedy club at Surry Hills in inner-Sydney earlier this week.

His new stand-up, or more correctly sit-down, routine was immediately hit with a threatening letter from the lawyers for the estate of the late satirist Barry Humphries (inset left in main image) claiming Sheridan was breaching copyright. The letter accused Sheridan of presenting an unauthorised performance of a character created by Humphries, namely the mind-numbingly tedious, rambling, and ruminating old codger Sandy Stone. Sheridan’s employer The Australian appears to be backing his plan to stand up to the legal threat to his sit-down routine by publishing a transcript of the new show. (below)

Sheridan plans to press ahead with more performances despite the heckling he received from one persistent audience member at the inaugural performance attended by The Bug as shown by some key extracts below.
