POLICE ROUNDS:

Police and other law-enforcement agencies have moved quickly in the wake of yesterday’s federal election, leaving one person charged with false pretences and others warned of alleged fair-trading breaches centred around gross product misinformation.
The person arrested late yesterday in Sydney just as polls were about to close at 6pm was Sky LNPNews host Sharri Markson, nabbed by NSW fraud squad police (above) and charged with using a carriage service to wilfully deceive divers person for personal acclaim.
This follows Markson’ claim in an online post late last week that she was a journalist.
And across town early last night, officers from Fair Trading swooped on Channel Nine’s election-night broadcast, issuing please-explain notices to several senior executive as to how they could possibly claim their panel was made up of “the nation’s finest political minds” if Bridget McKenzie was on it.

Police are also investigating whether Queensland LNP Senator James McGrath could be charged with telling outrageous porkies after he declared without even blushing on the ABC’s poll coverage that the Opposition had conducted a “highly professional campaign”.
BREAKING NEWS: Police have since confirmed that no charges will be laid against Senator McGrath, although The Bug can reveal he has been approached to be one of the headline acts at the next Melbourne Comedy Festival.
