No-one out there in BUGland should be surprised that this first look at our Xcrements-of-the-Week will devote itself entirely to Peter Dutton’s declaration that a sizable share of our nation’s mainstream mediocre is “hate media” hellbent on bringing him down.

To get a feel for what we’re about to say here, the fine piece of xcrement from Peter Mavros (at top and below) that our XOTW judges have decided to highlight sets the scene fairly well.

Peter’s observation of our hard man with the glass jaw just about sums up what Dutton is bleating about here.

Dutton might find it impossible to front up to the National Press Club but will rush to 2GB anytime of the day or night to allow the likes of Ray Hadley to give him an enema in human form. He’ll soak up the fawning unquestioning support of everyone at Murdoch’s Sky LNPNews.

But dare any media outlet that tries to practise professional journalism and ask Dutton some fair but tough questions, this snivelling, whimpering, overgrown school-yard bully labels them hate media. He singled out the ABC and The Guardian Australia but there were others out there as well not prepared to do the RIGHT thing by him.

And the ABC, for fuck’s sake! The Bug has written many times over as to how Aunty decided soon after the 2022 election that to be fair and balanced from then on, it had to run Peter Dutton Says on any political issue – a favour never, ever, extended to Bill Shorten and Anthony Albanese as Opposition leaders.

An extra aside from us. Dutton’s campaign advisers must surely have been advising him for weeks now to try to distance himself from Donald Trump. That Dutton with his “hate media” outburst seems incapable or unwilling to so has all of us at The Bug rolling around the floor laughing!
