…. if that’s what you’d call it!

In one of their rare industry-wide awards, judges of our uncoveted Media Glass House Arse-Licker for the month of March have draped the blue riband around the necks of this nation’s collective mainstream mediocre politics reporters and commentators.
As one of our senior judges explained: “It’s a belated award, in some ways, that honours the media’s fascination with “Peter Dutton Says!” during the almost three years now that Dutton has been Opposition Leader.
“We have never seen such interest in what Dutton has had to say over that term, often being given first dibs on an issue, and then a double dip with more time air time than the Albanese government, even on the most mundane of government announcements.
“When they were Opposition Leaders, Bill Shorten and then Anthony Albanese were never given this privileged treatment.
“It is the collective opinion of our judging panel that the recipients of this monthly award believe that one term in opposition for the LNP is punishment enough for all their missteps and misdeeds. And, further, that a return to the government benches for the LNP is needed seeing it’s only that side of politics knows how to manage the country’s finances well.
“And, sadly, that includes far too many scribes at the ABC, which by the way is the reason for the delay in announcing our March 2025 winner.
“There were some almighty Bundaberg-rum fueled brouhahas including a fair bit of biffo in the judges’ room for some days because about half of us thought just for the month, Patricia Karvelas should have been given naming rights to our trophy.
“I suppose it wasn’t too bad an idea but some of our colleagues needed to have some good old fashioned sense knocked into them.”
POSTSCRIPT: Just for interest, as we uploaded this post, we thought we’d snare what ABC online was leading its poll coverage with.

We accept that it’s proof of nothing. Albanese made the buy-back promise yesterday and he probably got a good run then. Interesting, though, as a random check.
