President picks portrait painter

WASHINGTON, DC: US President Donald Trump is believed to have picked an Australian artist in his bid to replace his portrait in the state capitol building in Colorado.

President Trump has lambasted the official portrait that up until a day ago had hung in the capitol building in Denver until being removed following his outburst on social media. (below)

In his bid to find a replacement he has been considering a number of submissions by Australian artists including previously unknown portraitist Vile Permlac (below).

“I don’t want to blow my own trumpet,” Mr Permlac said. “But I think my work (main picture) captures the real Donald Trump, hands down.”

Mr Trump has also received a submission from Brisbane-based Sue Ridge (below) who shuns traditional oils or acrylic paints and instead uses human excreta in her portraiture works.

“I have broken new ground with my Trump portrait (below) by producing a very lifelike sculpture instead of one of my usual two-dimensional works,” Ms Ridge said.

But the President has settled on controversial Aboriginal artist Vincent Namatjira, best known for his portrait of West Australian mining magnate Gina Rinehart. (below)

“I haven’t seen many of Vincent’s paintings,” Mr Trump said. “But I have been shown his portrait of Gina Righthard [sic] and I know he’s good because I’ve met Gina at Mar-a-Lago (below) and it’s the spitting image of her,” he said.
