Shoe shops face shortage

BRISBANE: Brisbane men’s footwear stores have all reported a run on white shoes as the Crisafulli Government prepares to release its 100-day review of plans for 2032 Olympic Games venues in Brisbane. (below)

Arch Fallon, owner of an inner-city shoe store, said the unusually high demand had seen all stocks of white shoes exhausted in his shop (main picture) and in other shoe stores across the city.

“I and other shoe shop proprietors have been shocked by the huge demand we have all experienced in recent days which has seen our shelves that are usually full of white shoes totally empty,” Mr Fallon said.

“But speaking to older hands in the business they say they too faced similar shortages in the 1970s and 1980s, throughout the Bjelke-Petersen government.”

AUSTIN, TX: Elon Musk’s electric car company Tesla says owners are responding well to a recall order that requires the replacement of a faulty body panel that can pose a risk by detaching from its Cybertruck model. (below)

A Tesla spokesperson said the company had taken the opportunity of the recall to also respond to recent customer demand for “slight modifications” to the vehicle’s appearance.

“In recent months Tesla has received a considerable amount of feedback from owners of our EVs who have faced, shall we say, vigorous criticism from other car owners, road users, and pedestrians,” the spokesperson said.

“To minimise this problem tesla will also offer Cybertruck owners the option of having some other body panels replaced that will slightly alter their vehicle’s appearance (below) and put an end to the problems they are currently facing.”
