Anyone out there in BUGland still unaware of the absolute hiding this nation’s biased mainstream mediocre is going to dish out to the Albanese government between now and federal polling day? There are! So they need to consider these 16 words.
Take it away, David Speers, from the ABC’s Insiders program on Sunday: “…this was on the Tuesday night so it was a few days before the storm hit.”
Now if that wasn’t clearly meant to make excuses for Peter Dutton being at a Liberal Party fundraiser, maybe two, in Sydney while his community in his north-of-Brisbane electorate of Dickson were hunkering down or filling sandbags then my nephew is a monkey.
And what a fucking pathetic excuse it was. Made that schoolboy’s argument that his dog ate his homework sound almost believable.
Speersie. Speersie. Speersie!
Really? As long as Dutton got back to south-east Queensland over the next day or so, everything would have been hunky-dory?
All Speers’ words told me – and I suspect informed many others too – is that while you can take the boy out of Sky LNPNews, you can never really ever take Sky LNPNews out of the boy.
Speers blurted out that line after one of his panellists said that many people had mentioned to her Scott Morrison flitting off to an Hawaiian holiday but should anyone at the ABC – let alone Aunty’s national political lead – be making an excuse for Dutton’s behaviour which, to be fair, Speers did (most likely very reluctantly) say wasn’t a good look.
It seems pretty clear to me that there are too many journalists at the ABC who are not being as professional and balanced as they should be.
Proof of that? I’m currently trying to trademark the words Peter Dutton Says. If successful, I expect to make a motza in royalty payments from Patricia Karvelas alone.
We should all be expecting – well, hoping at least – that the ABC will give Labor a fair shake during the coming campaign. It won’t be a match for the far-right attacks from Newscorpse; fairness and balance from the ABC would be but a short piss in the ocean compared with the tsunami of turgid rightwing shit that will dominate the supposed “news” pages of Murdoch’s rags and pour, like a busted intake pipe at the sewerage works, from the mouths of his SkyLNPNews hosts and Nine Entertainment Co. radio shock jocks.
BUGgers, brace yourself for impact soon to be much worse than it already is. It’s going to be far from pretty. Real journalism is dead, buried and cremated in this once Lucky Country.
