While constitutional lawyers are yet to fully analyse the complex decision, Aunty Pauline of the Bodgieandwidgedigery tribe that caught and traded fish and chips around the Ipswich area of south-east Queensland, said the fine details of the ruling did not matter.

“A High Court decision on native title claims that can easily be misconstrued and misrepresented on social media just weeks before a federal election is like winning Gold Lotto,” she said while popping a magnum of champagne at her official residence, the Whites House, near Ipswich.
