Do you really believe, Peter Hartcher, that no-one knows what Anthony Albanese stands for and no-one remembers what he’s done.
NO-ONE AT ALL! (Sorry for using Trumpish caps for emphasis)
That utter piece of biased balderdash comes in the second last paragraph of Hartcher’s call-to-arms piece in Saturday’s The Sydney Morning Herald.
What an amazing insight into the mind of a supposedly fair and reasonable politics commentaor/analyst at one of this nation’s very few alleged fair and reasonable mastheads.
Is it any wonder, if Hartcher’s view is widely held across the nation’s woeful mainstream mediocre (and it is), why Albanese and his gang have got bugger-all hope of fighting the looming federal poll on a level playing field?
What is Hartcher clearly telling us with this overheated hyperbolic nonsense? Is this view of his right? Or just far right?
To make such a bizarre call, can we assume Hartcher is speaking on behalf of each and every one of his journo colleagues who right – sorry, write – about politics? And perhaps he means the entire Australian voting block?
By contrast, The Bug’s staff must have some strange bedfellows. Most if not all of us are, as are most of our friends and colleagues, fully aware of what Albanese stands for – mostly good but not all – and all remember quite well what he has done in almost three years – again, mostly good but not all.
Other polls differ, of course, but two recent ones suggest that at least 50 per cent of Australian voters reckon they know what Albanese stands for and what he has done and will be voting for him shortly.
So what on earth was Hartcher thinking with such a comment? Is he touting to be the promo writer for network television reality shows .. “the whole of Australia will come to a standstill” … “the whole world is watching on…”
The personal view of the old, washed-up, hacks who compile this column is that Hartcher should be kicked out of the Herald’s North Sydney office so hard over this risible rubbish of his that he splashes down the other side of Norfolk Island.
Below is yesterday’s MGH take on the SMH sub-editor who thought highlighting the lowlight of Hartcher’s bizarre, biased, commentary was a good idea.
