MEDIA NEWS:
The Murdoch media’s national broadshit The Australian has drawn criticism for today’s edition (main picture) calling on the Albanese Government to vacate office and allow Peter Dutton to be sworn in as the nation’s new leader.
A leading journalism analyst, Professor Henny Jonningham, (below) said The Australian had used two weekend opinion polls to justify its call for Mr Dutton to take over running the nation immediately.

“The paper’s coverage today expresses outrage at Mr Albanese’s refusal to immediately quit as PM and hand the office over to Mr Dutton,” said Professor Jonningham, chair of the Combined Universities Newswriting Tribunal.
“The paper is using its own latest Newspoll and the recent YouGov poll to justify its coverage calling for a change of government without an election.
“Editor-at-large Paul Kelly has laid out the case for such a change, although his comment piece is run incomplete after covering just seven pages because, as I understand, the paper ran out of newsprint.
“Greg Sheridan brings his expert eye as foreign affairs editor to the coverage by citing American constitutional experts (below) who say the current political climate in the USA shows Australians have nothing to fear from a swing to Right under someone like Mr Dutton.

“Regular columnist Peta Credlin, adds her voice to the argument, saying voting was an outmoded woke concept anyway.
“Another long-serving Righter at The Oz, its anti-ABC editor Gerard Henderson, has penned a column blaming the ABC for what the paper says is a constitutional crisis caused by Labor’s arrogance and refusal to heed the will of the people.“
Professor Jonningham said today’s editorial was also unusual by not outlining a cogent argument for an immediate change of government, but instead consisting entirely of the repeated phrase ‘Get Australia back on track’.
A spokesperson for The Australian rejected claims that with today’s edition the newspaper had engaged in blatant anti-Labor propaganda and had indulged in the partisan promotion of the interests of Mr Dutton and the Liberal Party at the expense of balanced coverage.
“It’s just not fair that today’s edition of The Oz is cast in that light,” the spokesperson said. “Today’s paper is no different from any other we’ve published in the past.
“Any claim to the contrary is wrong, woke, and anti-Semitic,” the spokesperson said.
