Honesty and Donald Trump.
Bet you’ve never seen those words used together before … and in such a short sentence to boot!
But let’s give credit where credit’s due and in an exceptionally rare diversion from normal practice, Trump has been totally upfront and honest about his one-state solution for the Gaza Strip.
That one-state solution being that the enclave should be cleared of pesky low-life Palestinians and should become a state – perhaps the 51st – of the United States if Greenland and Canada don’t come to their senses first.
So what is so refreshingly and disturbingly honest about Trump’s plan to turn Gaza into the Riviera of the Middle East, presumably with firstly demolition and then construction companies controlled by him and his family?
It’s this. All Trump has done is to tell the world in crystal clear terms that he is in total agreement with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the two-state solution for Israel that most of the world keeps crying out for is, to them at least, a crock of shit that is never, ever, going to happen. And, sadly, they are most likely spot on.
Neither man has any intention of obeying international law and letting Palestinians in Gaza and The West Bank live in peace with their Jewish neighbours.
So while flouting international law and openly advocating ethnic cleansing on a massive scale, on top of the genocide Netanyahu and his Zionist government have committed in Gaza with the help of a never-ending supply of American bombs, is more in keeping with the Trump we’ve come to know and loathe, spelling out his plans for Gaza is probably the first time in his life he’s displayed openness and honesty about the unlawful, anti-democratic and self-serving way he prefers to go about doing things.
It must have been terribly unnerving for Trump to give honesty a short spin around the Oval Office; it shirley would have given him a truly dreadful feeling of unease that he’s unlikely ever to repeat.
