WASHINGTON, DC: US President Donald Trump’s press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, has announced changes to daily work procedures of the White House press pool.
The changes were announced by Ms Leavitt (below) after she took most reporters to task for making “deliberate, poisonous, and treasonous errors” in their reports based on statements made last week by President Donald Trump.

Speaking at length and at high volume at reporters this morning in the White House briefing room, Ms Leavitt said she had noted “thousands of fake stories” in media outlets of Mr Trump’s comments about Gaza during the visit by Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.
Pointing to a PowerPoint slide containing Mr Trump’s remarks, she said it had been “wrongly reported by the fake non-Fox news media” that the President, when referring to his plan to take over Gaza, had stated: “Everybody I have spoken to loves the idea of the United States owning that piece of land, developing and creating thousands of jobs with something that will be magnificent in a really magnificent area that nobody would know.”
She then displayed a second slide, saying the purported comments of the President it contained were also deliberately misconstrued, namely: “I don’t want to be cute. I don’t want to be a wise guy. But the Riviera of the Middle East, this could be something that could be so … magnificent.”
Ms Leavitt said the first quote should have read, in part: “… developing and creating thousands of jobs with something that will be MAGAnificent in a really MAGAnificent area that nobody would know.”
She said the second quote should also have read: “…. the Riviera of the Middle East, this could be something that could be so … MAGAnificent.”
Ms Leavitt said she had taken steps to ensure no repeat of such “fake news”.
“I have created several new positions for White House communication aides and I have already filled the jobs,” she said before introducing the new recruits. (main picture)
“Their job will be to be present in the White House press pool 24/7 to help you in writing and censor… I mean, checking your stories to ensure fair and balanced reporting of the type Fox News delivers every hour of every day.”
When questioned about her claims that the recent news stories had been “treasonous” and what implications should be drawn from her comments, Ms Leavitt produced a packet of plastic zip-lock ties and slapped them on the lectern, saying: “You have been warned.”
