Shares in Australia’s commercial print and electronic media companies have slumped in value overnight on the news that Clive Palmer will now not be spending $100million plus at the looming federal election.
Palmer has also axed his current big pre-election ad spend by his resources company Mineralogy.
The self-proclaimed mining billionaire has been using ad slots on commercial TV warning Australians that the Albanese government is not interested in solving their cost of living and housing problems while he clearly is.

“The bottom line is that a politician of the calibre of Senator Ralph Babet comes along – oh, so rarely – and I simply haven’t been able to find another candidate with his skill set and vision for the country we love.
“Would I spend another $100 million plus to get elected just one other politician with Babet’s charisma, character, courage and commitment to do what’s by far right for our amazing country?
“Of course I would. But the Babets of this world are like hen’s teeth.
“They are a once-in-a-blue-moon phenomenon.
“All Australians should consider themselves very fortunate that I and my United Australia Party found Babet last time around.
“I’d love to keep looking but I know deep down it would only end in failure and that’s a crying shame. Babet might simply be irreplaceable and I think I’d just be stupid to really try.”
Editor’s note: I think you’ve made your point. Wrap it up.
Reporter: Fair call. I’ll end it now.
