TEL AVIV: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has defended ramped-up military action in the West Bank, blaming it on the current ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the never-ending supply of munitions from the United States.

Mr Netanyahu told a media conference here: “Sure, we’ve put down the increased IDF use of force in the West Bank to increased terrorist activity there that threatens Israel’s right to a peaceful existence but where else at the moment can we use the tank shells, rockets and bombs that God courtesy of the US keeps supplying us with daily?

“And what if the Gaza ceasefire holds, heaven forbid, and for some reason we can’t continue to raze southern Lebanon under the conditions of the ceasefire in place there?

“And do you know how much it costs to store these munitions safely if we don’t use them as intended? It’s a pretty shekel, I can tell you.

“How are we expected to push West Bank Palestinian civilians further east toward the Jordan River if these things sit wasting away and deteriorating in storage?”

WASHINGTON, DC: A new national poll shows Donald Trump’s MAGA support base still believes the 47th President will honour his poll promise to lower the price of eggs at supermarkets.

The poll of 4300 Make America Great Again devotees shows unwavering support for Trump even though he recently replied to a question about the state of the American economy and how it might perform under his tax and tariff policies with “I don’t care”.
