GAZA WAR:
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (main picture) says he has been “pleasantly surprised” at world reaction to his latest initiative in the war with Hamas in Gaza.
“I have authorised many, many operations by the Israeli Defence Force in the past 15 months since the cold-blooded anti-Semitic attack by Hamas on innocent Israeli civilians,” Mr Netanyahu told reporters.
“Every single one of those military operations has been the subject of relentless and anti-Semitic attacks and criticism as somehow being ‘genocide’.
“Those regular military operations have been aimed at protecting Israel’s right to exist and, sure, there has been some minor collateral damage to a small number of Palestinian people in Gaza – just a few….,” he said before adding in a barely heard whisper “….tens of thousands”.
“But would a country like America supply us arms if we are engaged in genocide? That sort of claim is just wrong. Oh, and anti-Semitic.
“As if US arms makers would put profit from weapons sales ahead of human lives. That’s just unbelievable! And anti-Semitic, of course.
“I completely reject claims of genocide. Did I mention that such claims are clearly anti-Semitic?
“How can anyone claim that Operation Indiscriminate Slaughter, Operation Generational Annihilation, Operation Total Demolition, or Operation Human Vermin Removal were even remotely genocidal?
“All of which makes it very surprising to me that most nations, many world leaders, as well as those few dozen or so people we’ve missed killing in Gaza, have been so excited about my announcement of the IDF’s new Operation Seize Fire,” Mr Netanyahu said.
