MIAMI, FL: President-elect Donald Trump has denied suggestions that he wants to acquire Greenland for the USA to use as a dumping ground for the illegal immigrants he plans to deport starting on day one of his presidency.

Speaking at a news conference at his Mar-a-Lago resort Mr Trump (main picture) said Greenland was not the only territory he was intent on buying or seizing if necessary by military force.

“But I gotta tell you, I don’t want Greenland to use it as a place to dump illegal immigrants, No sir, no way,” Mr Trump said.

“I’ll be sending them somewhere else. Oh and by the way I’ll also be deporting a lot of other people not just illegal immigrants.

“I’ve got big plans to round up a lot of people in the states I didn’t win back in November, especially in certain parts of certain states and cities, if you know what I mean.

“So I’ll need to look at other places overseas to dump these people. Somewhere where they’ll fit in.

“That’s why I’m also looking at taking over Niger and Nigeria,” he said mispronouncing the names of the two African nations.

At the same news conference Mr Trump confirmed he would be granting pardons to his supporters who participated in the insurrection at the US Capitol in January 2021 after he lost the 2020 election.

“I’ll also be issuing pardons for those convicted of killing my former Vice-President Mike Pence,” he said, prompting one reporter to inform the President-elect that Mr Pence was still alive.

Mr Trump then winked at the reporter before saying: “We’ll see.”

Mr Trump also revealed some details of the inaugural address he planned to deliver on 20 January.

“Naturally I’ll have the biggest ever crowd for any inauguration anywhere, ever. Period,” he said.

“So I’m not going to give a long and boring speech that prompts people to up and leave. That’s not my style,” he added, prompting quickly suppressed laughter from reporters.

“I think that would also demean the dignity of the occasion, so I’ll be posting my speech in just a few short messages on my Truth Social platform along with links to online sites where my supporters can buy a Trump Bible or Trump gold sneakers.

“That will save a lot of time. A lot of time. So instead of speaking I’ll be able to use that time to dance to the YMCA song,” he said.
