Trump sets dress standards

US President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team has issued new rules on dress standards for his 20 January inauguration.

The bulletin outlines Trump’s personal directive to scrap the traditional standard of formal daywear for men and women attending the ceremony and replaces it with a new uniform designed by the President-elect himself. (main picture)

“The President-elect asks all who will be attending the inauguration at the Capitol in Washington DC to abide by his respectful request to adhere to the new dress code,” a spokesperson for the transition team said.

The Trump transition team spokesperson also revealed that once sworn into office the 47th US President would not be using the standard heavily armoured official limousine supplied by the Secret Service. (left, below)

Instead, Trump would be driven down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House in a car of his own choice, a 1940 Mercedes-Benz convertible (frighteningly far right, below)

“The convertible will give the new President a chance to stand and receive the applause and affection of what will be the biggest crowd ever to attend an inauguration. Period,” the spokesperson said.

The Trump spokesperson also confirmed that the President-elect would not be attending the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter who died today aged 100.

“President-elect Trump recognises the achievement of Mr Carter in reaching 100 and has expressed his goal of attaining the same age and more, but in the office of US President,” the spokesperson said.

“Otherwise it’s well known that Mr Trump doesn’t attend services of any kind for losers.”
