Courtesy of my spies at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, I have exclusive news of a new television special coming our way and hosted by the remarkable Lisa Millar.

But don’t get too excited: the project is only in its early planning stages and won’t hit our home screens for some years yet.

But I’ve seen some of the story boards for the filming and for those of you old enough to remember the ending to the 1957 film, Old Yeller, I can warn you now that Muster Dogs: Their Final Moments is a real-tearjerker and, trust me, you’ll need at least one box of tissues for when this special is screened as expected in time for Christmas in eight years time.

The ABC has already prepared some advertising material for the special (at top and below) and as you can see, Lisa shares those special moments as the pups from the original series in 2022 – Gossip, Lucifer, Chet, Spice and the eventual winner Annie – reach their use-by or useful-by dates and leave us forever!

Trust me. There won’t be a dry eye in your house when this very special program finally hits our home screens. And the second such special is planned for two years later, showing the eventual fate of those loveable pups from series two!
