How a reputation got naccered…

… before it even had a chance to forge one!

Maybe it’s because the silly season has started, but our Xcrement-of-the-Week barrel was indeed chockas with a very eclectic mix of very smelly observations on all matter of things that upset our Xers’ bowels.

Unable to pick a clear winner, our judges opted instead to highlight an issue that has plopped into the barrel countless times over 2024 – namely Robodebt and the ruling by the National Anti-Corruption Commission that, basically, there was nothing to see there worthy of its deliberations!

So they’ve highlighted this effort and meme from arthur norman (at top and below)

We won’t forget, arthur. While he does not mention how NACC trashed its reputation from the get-go after it began in July last year by wiping its hands over arguably the worst example of government malfeasance and possible criminality in our nation’s history, we’re pretty sure he’s in total agreement with the headings we’ve used for this post.

Let’s move on! No Xcrements column is complete with outrage over the ABC Insiders program and we refer to Samantha Maiden’s bizarre attempt on the couch on Sunday to compare something Anthony Albanese did or didn’t do with Scott Morrison’s secret ministries. We’ll leave it to others to have their spray because we’ve long given up trying to make sense of Maiden’s grasp of logic, commonsense or story value. She does, after all, work for Newscorpse.

Here’s Sahar A on those comments, and the ABC agreeing that what she had to say was newsworthy.

Albanese has stated that Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek was kept fully informed on the PM’s decision to axe environmental laws she had worked tirelessly on but the ABC’s Radio National’s Patricia Karvelas was still banging on about it this morning as this column was being prepared for upload. And fair enough too. Being a politician, Albanese could be lying through his teeth so why shouldn’t the national broadcaster get stuck in, Newscorpse style?

Allan Green had a more general swipe at the ABC but we suspect he had Insiders host David Speers in mind, and let’s give Sahar A a second bite of the cherry as well.

And NOT SO MUSKY showed admirable concern for Aunty’s permanently depressed and forever strained budget…

… and also provided this nice milk carton meme!

Staying overseas, David Speers style, this column once again marvels at Donald Trump’s ability to fill his Cabinet and department head positions with people who are dumber and even more corrupt and sleezy than he is, even though we thought that would be an impossibility. Take it away, Harry Sisson and Peter Murphy.

TO BE CONTINUED.
