WASHINGTON, DC: President-elect Donald Trump has once again stunned the US political commentariat with his latest appointment that veteran observers say could be his “craziest” pick yet.
They are referring to Trump’s decision to name Ronald McDonald as his sole stand-in body double at public events over the four years of the 47th US presidency when such a deception is deemed necessary by the Secret Service for safety or other operational reasons.
Ronald McDonald, 66, is the long-serving mascot for the worldwide McDonald’s hamburger chain.
In selecting Ronald for the stand-alone role, Trump has summarily dismissed the four clowns that have been his regular doppelgänger substitutes, especially at rallies in the long months leading up to the presidential poll earlier this month and whose work only doubled after two assassination attempts on arguably the world’s most charismatic political leader during the at-times heated campaign.
The Bug two days ago in a world-first interviewed those clowns (pictured below) and now regrets whether the decision to run their interesting stories and how they managed to fool MAGA audiences so well and so often has led to the sudden loss of their jobs. That was never its intention as their work always made so many of us laugh.

A source in Trump’s White House transitional team said the president-elect had made his decision because Ronald McDonald had agreed to do the job “just for the fun of it”.
“That’s the sort of pay rate the president has always admired in his employees over many decades. The fact that Ronald is white also helped.
“What probably also helped is that Ronald promised that every time he was needed, he could provide the president with a free McDonald’s famous mega family budget deal of four quarter pounders with cheese, 48 chicken nuggets, four large chips and four large Cokes, the president’s favourite snack between main meals and just before his morning and afternoon naps.”
