News Crap Australia commentators have universally lambasted the ABC for its choice of host to replace Paul Barry on the weekly Media Watch program.

I was in attendance at a special lunchtime knees-up in Sydney yesterday when the ABC announced that investigative reporter and former foreign correspondent Linton Besser (below) would host the media analysis program from 2025, replacing Barry who has helmed the program for more than a decade.

Earlier this year, Barry revealed he would be stepping down from the program after more than a decade as its longest-serving host.

The news that Besser, who has worked for several ABC public affairs programs such as Four Corners, Foreign Correspondent and 7.30, was attacked by columnists and commentators working for Murdoch media outlets such as the national broadshit The Australian and Sky News.

Leading the charge was long-time ABC critic Gerard Henderson (far right in main picture) who used a column in The Australian to say he was not surprised that the national broadcaster had picked  “another woke lefty groupthink comrade from within the communist ABC” while also questioning why someone from News Crap Australia – such as himself – could not have been given the gig to ensure a “fair and balanced approach” to media analysis.

Hendo was joined by News Crap Australia turdbloid columnists and Sky News commentators Rowan Dean, James Morrow, and Andrew Bolt (also far right in main picture).

All three said they were not surprised that the national broadcaster had picked  “another woke lefty groupthink comrade from within the communist ABC” while also questioning why someone from News Crap Australia – such as one of them – could not have been given the gig to ensure a “fair and balanced approach” to media analysis.

Sky News commentator and columnist for The Australian, Peta Credlin, (far right in main picture) took a completely different approach.

She added that she was not surprised that the national broadcaster had picked  “another woke lefty groupthink comrade from within the communist ABC”.

One thing that struck me as I read or listened to their comments was the fact that none of the News Crap Australia commentators actually named Linton Besser.

Intrigued, I rang my News Crap Australia sources only to be told that the five commentators attacking Media Watch’s new host had all written or recorded their published remarks long before the ABC’s official announcement.

“This was done to save time, after all they all knew what they would be saying, and besides they didn’t have time to actually right something yesterday after the news broke because they were all busy attending a righting workshop in preparation for the coming federal election,” one of my sources explained.
