Trump-Musk link raises concerns

WASHINGTON DC: The blossoming relationship between Donald Trump and far-right tech billionaire Elon Musk is causing increasing concern within the US President-elect’s transition team.

Sources within the transition operation who did not wish to be sacked said Musk had been increasingly and obviously ingratiating himself with Trump since the presidential election.

“The two have been almost inseparable and Elon is consuming more and more of the President-elect’s time and attention,” one insider said.

“His latest gambit has been to invite the President-elect to take a few days off at Elon’s recently acquired ranch at Brokeback Mountain in Wyoming. (main picture)

“Elon has convinced Mr Trump to go there by promising to show off his big rocket and by telling him that Wyoming was a swing state, even though the Space-X launch pad is hundreds of miles away in Texas and the election is over.

“When the President-elect said he wouldn’t swallow that Elon was disappointed but said they could still have a great time together,” the source said.

MELBOURNE: Architect of the Future Fund, Peter Costello, is expected to break his silence today on the Albanese Government’s decision to amend the investment guidelines of the nation’s sovereign wealth fund to include housing and green energy projects.

A spokesperson for Mr Costello said the former Liberal Party deputy leader and federal treasurer had chosen not to respond to the news until he was “completely prepared”.

“Mr Costello always makes sure he is properly prepared before making public appearances or public comments,” the spokesperson said.

“That usually involves him practising tilting his head back and to the side, exposing his flabby jowls, smirking just right, and bombastically delivering some fatuous anti-Labor remarks. He won’t be fronting until he’s got that just right.

“He’s also been practising shoulder charges in case he comes face to face with any pesky journalists,” the spokesperson said.

RIO DE JANEIRO: Organisers of the G20 meeting in Brazil have apologised for causing US President Joe Biden to be temporarily hospitalised with minor burns just prior to flying out of the country back to Washington DC.

“We thought we would surprise Mr Biden with a nice cake to mark his 82nd birthday,” a G20 spokesperson said. (below)

“Unfortunately somebody took instructions literally and included 82 candles on the cake which when lit caused minor burns to the President when he tried to blow them out.

“While we are still examining video footage, we suspect the problem was aggravated by the fact Mr Biden fell asleep as he leaned forward to blow out the candles, so while we may not be entirely to blame, we apologised to him anyway,” the spokesperson said.
