Trump sends Rupert to Canberra

WASHINGTON DC: US President-elect Donald Trump has named media mogul Rupert Murdoch as his pick to fill the role of America’s Ambassador to Australia.

It is understood that Mr Murdoch (pictured recently at his Montana ranch) will take up his new job based at the US Embassy in Canberra soon after Mr Trump’s inauguration in January next year.

“Although nominally retired, Rupert – an American citizen since the mid-1980s – had no hesitation in agreeing to the President’s request for him to serve his nation,” a source in the Trump presidential transition team told The Bug.

“He actually admitted to being a bit bored since relinquishing his role as co-chair of News Crap International and has said he now spends most of his time reading, Righting, and marrying, but still finds some time each day to tell News Crap editors what they independently think. So the job offer was a welcome opportunity which he agreed to immediately.”

The transition team source said President-elect Trump figured he owed Mr Murdoch something in return for the help Rupert and his son Lachlan have given him through their Fox News service which has essentially been an advertising agency for the Make America Great Again movement.

“The President-elect had plenty of options when deciding where to send Rupert, and he had considered a number of shithole countries but finally saw the logic of posting him to Australia.

“He firmed his view when he realised it is also a clever way to get up the nose of the Albanese Government and its obvious failure to withdraw Kevin Rudd as Australia’s ambassador in Washington in light of his past attacks on the President-elect via social media,” the source said.
