Trump takes new approach

WASHINGTON DC: Donald Trump is expected to reveal soon what political insiders claim will be the “ground-breaking and controversial” approach his second administration will take to its diplomatic relations with other nations.

The President-elect has already named several colourful identities as potential members of his Cabinet, including (from right to far-right above) former independent presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy Junior as Secretary for Health and Human Services, Fox News host Pete Hegseth as Secretary for Defence, and former congressman Matt Gaetz as Attorney-General.

But sources within the Trump transition team said details would be revealed soon about how a re-elected President Trump would structure America’s diplomatic services under his preferred choice as Secretary of State, Florida senator Marco Rubio.

The source said Mr Trump had formed a view in his first term that the State Department “wasted millions, if not billions of dollars” running embassies, and paying ambassadors and diplomats in hundreds of nations around the world.

“He is determined not to allow that to happen in his second term,” the source said.

“He plans to maintain embassies and ambassadors in just a handful of major nations, especially allies such as Britain, France, Canada, and Australia. But he will be directing Marco Rubio to implement a new system to deal with all other countries.

“The President wants to appoint a Roving Ambassador for Shithole Nations to handle diplomatic relations with all the others.

“He believes this will make the State Department’s job a lot easier and save lots of money.”

The transition team source said the President-elect had special plans for US diplomatic efforts with Israel, given the current sensitivities in the Middle East.

“President Trump plans to make special efforts as far as US diplomatic representation in the region is concerned,” the source said.

“That’s why, in addition to the traditional US Ambassador’s post in Israel, he also plans to appoint his two older sons, Don Junior and … umm, whathisname, as his personal envoys in the region.

“Unusually, both will not be working for the State Department like all other diplomats but will work for a new entity that the President has established, the Gaza and West Bank Development Corporation,” the source revealed.
