Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has rejected claims that he will be using Donald Trump’s successful US campaign as a model for his own efforts to win office at the 2025 federal election.

Speaking at a Make Australia Great Again rally in western Sydney (main picture) Mr Dutton told the audience of supporters that he wanted to “drain the Canberra swamp”.

“We need to save Australia and only I can do that. I will be your vengeance, I will be your retribution,” he said to wild applause.

Mr Dutton also outlined the Liberal-National coalition’s new immigration policy.

“We will be deporting all immigrants – legal or illegal – from our nation in the biggest mass deportation in our history,” he declared.

“These vermin have to go if we are to cut crime and make our streets safe again. They are poisoning the blood of our nation,” he said.

Addressing directly the claims that he was modelling himself on Donald Trump and his extreme right-wing promises and rhetoric, Mr Dutton blamed the “left-wing media, especially the ABC” for perpetuating the allegation.

“It’s exactly the sort of lie I’d expect from those in the fake media,” he told the crowd.

“They are always taking a shot at me. I believe some of them would like to do that quite literally.

“But someone should really take a shot at them,” he said while raising both arms to mimic firing a rifle at the assembled reporters present, sparking a standing ovation from his supporters and cries of “Kill them!”.

As he drew his rambling three-hour speech to a close Mr Dutton attacked Prime Minister Anthony Albanese as a “low energy, low IQ individual”.

After he finished speaking the sound system at the venue cranked out the tune YMCA by the Village People and Mr Dutton danced awkwardly, swinging his closed fists back and forth before departing the stage and grabbing a pussy at random as he did so, while the by-then smaller remaining crowd erupted into repeated chants of “A-U-S!, A-U-S!, A-U-S!”.
