JOURNALISM AWARDS:
Judges of The Bug’s prestigious Media Glass House Arselicker of the Month (ALOTM) Award have sought legal advice to assist their current deliberations over the potential recipient or recipients of the October award.
The ALOTM Award – also known as the Janet Albrechtsen Perpetual Trophy (main picture) – is presented to the journalist or journalists whose output in the previous month has/have in the judges’ view best rimmed the single or collective coits of their employers or political patrons.
The October shortlist of nominees prepared by The Bug’s Media Glass House research staff has given judges cause to questions the rules and criteria for the award.
“Up until now the judges have found it relatively easy to identify a journo who has created a story that pushes the political, commercial, or personal interests of their employer or their favoured political party or politician,” a source close to the judging panel said.
“But this month they were thrown a curve ball when the shortlist contained a nomination for another judging panel – those who decided on recipients for this year’s Murdoch media’s annual in-house News Awards open to News Crap Australia editorial employees. (below)

“The judges for the News Awards were nominated as textbook arselickers for giving a gong to fulltime Liberal Party promoter Peta Credlin of the national broadshit The Australian.
“Ms Credlin was recognised in the Best Specialist category – whatever that means – for her recycling and promotion of conspiracy claims quickly disproved that the Uluru Statement from the Heart ‘was longer and had more attachments than pro-voice referendum activists had let on’. (below)

“This caused the Media Glass House teams to include in their October nominations the judge or judges of the News Awards even though their identity or identities are unknown.
“The ALOTM Award judges are now asking questions about the legitimacy of potentially awarding the Janet Albrechtsen Perpetual Trophy for October to the News Award judge or judges who didn’t actually create or present editorial content – albeit in this case blatantly untrue conspiracy theories – but still managed to lick clean the respective rear ends of Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch, and Peter Dutton by recognising Ms Credlin’s work.
“They hope to have answers from the lawyers soon and to finalise the October award winner, or winners,” the source said.
